Maintaining a Forest Data Bank of all forms is mandated by the Forest Act (Article 13a). The Forest Act requires the State Forests to "maintain a data bank on forest resources and the condition of forests" (Article 13a). Legislators have defined the need for such a bank as one of the tools for achieving sustainable forest management. At the same time, they have specified that the bank should contain data on forests regardless of their form of ownership.
