Inaccessible Content
Non-compliance with the Annex
- Some graphics, icons, and charts do not have appropriate text descriptions, and silent instructional videos do not have an equivalent text alternative. This issue occurs, among other places, on the home page, in news items, on the "Forests in Europe" page, and on the page with instructional videos.
- On some pages, the structure of content and forms is not correctly conveyed programmatically. This applies, among other things, to the heading structure, the association of some labels with fields, and the email address field, for which the purpose of the data has not been programmatically defined.
- Some information and interface elements have insufficient contrast or convey information using color only. This applies, among other things, to statistical graphics, breadcrumb navigation, and the arrow in the year-selection control.
- Not all functions can be operated using a keyboard. This applies, among other things, to the "Select statement" and "Select year" controls. The portal also does not have a mechanism that allows users to skip repeated blocks, and keyboard focus is not visible on some elements.
- For some pages and functions, more than one effective way of finding them has not been provided.
- In the "Select year" control, the action is triggered as soon as the mouse button is pressed and cannot be cancelled by moving the pointer away before releasing the button.
- In the "Request" form, the message about an invalid email address indicates the error but does not provide a suggestion for correcting it.
- The search button marked with a magnifying-glass icon does not have an accessible programmatic name, and the dynamic message "Invalid email address." in the "Request" form is not programmatically marked in a way that enables it to be automatically communicated to assistive technologies.
